It’s been a LONG week. Not only because Chunyo was feeling under the weather but as some of you might recall we’ve had a house guest since last week. Good news! It’s finally time for Casper to go home :). I think the little one is ready to leave and Chunyo is absolutely ready to be in charge again. He has spent the last 10 days sharing his toys, sharing his walks (only the short ones) and feeling constantly rejected. The little one just had NO interest in playing. In fact, I think he spent the week fearing for his life on edge. He would squeal (hard on the ears) every time Chunyo came near him. Poor thing! I feel like I spent the entire time as a referee (which is exhausting). Have to admit, we are looking forward to some one on one with our Chunyo (no offense to Casper) 😉 .

When your dog loses control..
Has your dog ever had a tantrum? The kind where he throws himself on the ground, refuses to budge or listen. In that instant, he may even growl at you a bit. If you haven’t experienced this, consider yourself very lucky! If you have, you know exactly what I am talking about.
Chunyo used to have tantrums when he was younger and after lots of training (and patience), we were able to work through it. Unfortunately, last week I had a brief flash from the past. During one of our walks, Chunyo quickly took a hold of his leash and started biting and pulling it. Then he had the nerve to throw himself on the ground and refuse to get up! Urgh! I thought we moved past this stage. What happened? In that moment, I had to remember what I learned in training – correct him and then let him finish his tantrum. Whatever you do, don’t fight it! Of course this is easier said than done. I swear the neighbors were looking out their windows watching the drama unfold! Finally, after several attempts to calm him down (it felt like forever) – Chunyo was back to normal 🙂 He was ready to finish his walk. Phewww!
Has your dog had a tantrum recently? How do you handle it? Here is an article from Dog Breed Advice on the topic. Figured I needed to review how to handle Chunyo’s occasional moments of madness 😉 Let’ s hope this doesn’t happen again anytime soon! It’s embarrassing!
Road to recovery on the horizon…
We had a nice weekend and got a chance to take several long walks. The downside of this weekend is that little Chunyo is still feeling a little under the weather – less licking of the paws but still itchy. Thanks to everyone who gave us some helpful tips.
Unfortunately, we are also monitoring a little bump on his face next his eye. The vet said to watch and see if it gets bigger and I swear it is 😦 Looks like we will be back at vet’s office again. Hope it isn’t anything serious. Wish us luck!
Itching, scratching, and rubbing… Oh No!
Have you ever noticed your dog licking his paws, scratching his face or ears a bit too much? If so, did you know that these can be allergy symptoms? Yep! Who knew?! We been watching Chunyo struggle with this recently so we went to the vet to get to the bottom of it.
After several tests and an ear cleaning – the vet told us that Chunyo has an ear infection, yeast in his paws, and possible skin infection – all of which can be related to allergies. Ugh!!! Poor thing! After receiving his antibiotic shot (a little more expensive but better than 3 weeks of pills 2xs a day), we walked out with our hands full – a prescription to control the itching, ear drops for his infection and a special shampoo to soothe his irritated skin and paws. Oh did I forget to mention the big bill?! Yeah, let’s hope we get a decent reimbursement from his insurance. But of course, the most important thing is that our lil guy feels better soon 🙂
So what’s Chunyo allergic to? Yeah, well we don’t know EXACTLY but it is quite possible that it is peanut butter! So SAD about this! Remember those peanut butter treats that he loved so much. Sadly, he might be allergic to them 😦 So NO more of those peanut butter treats for him. Too bad, he LOVED them. Hopefully other pooches can enjoy them even if Chunyo can’t.
Does your dog have allergies? Any suggestions for us?

Wordless Wednesday Photo
While our post is supposed to be “Wordless” today, we couldn’t let another day pass without saying thank you to our friends at Tail Waggin for our Style Blogger Award. This is our second one but we aren’t complaining..
I am supposed to share 7 things about us and nominate 15 blogs, that we like to read, for this award!
Things about Chunyo
- He is very popular in the neighborhood. In fact, the little kids come knocking on our door asking if he can come out and play. It’s cute!
- Chunyo LOVES children too. He will stop in his tracks the minute he sees one. It’s very sweet to watch.
- He knows how to sit, stay, lay, rollover and give you his paw.
- He used to hate car rides. There are days he still does.
- Chunyo loves bully sticks and pumpkin treats.
- He used to fall asleep around 8:30 every night. Like clock work!
- We think about getting another dog at some point. We think Chunyo could use a friend.

Catching up on some Zzzz..
Long, long day yesterday! We didn’t get much sleep because of our little guest. Poor thing misses home. He cried all night! 😦 Caught Chunyo trying to catch up on some zzzz. Think he is on to something 😉
On another note, thought we would share something to chuckle about…
Ever get an unexpected guest?
Chunyo got an unexpected guest yesterday and he is not happy about it! Lots of whining and barking in our house. Chunyo is about 26 pounds and this little Chihuahua weighs about 5 pounds (if that). Unfortunately, EVERY time Chunyo comes anywhere near him – he panics and starts acting like a lunatic! Kid you not! This is also why we couldn’t get a picture of these two together. It’s chaos! Can’t blame say I blame the little one, Chun’s a giant next to him. All Chunyo wants to do is play. Poor thing is facing constant rejection. He is obviously not ok with his guest!
Should be an interesting week 😉 How do you handle guest pets at your house? Suggestions welcome!
