Sweet, sweet potato chips..

Had a really busy but productive weekend.  In the midst of a cleaning frenzy – came across a copy of Natural Dog magazine and found this great recipe – Baked Yam Chips.

The recipe calls for either  yams or sweet potatoes. Side note: I always wondered the difference between the two since people often use them interchangeably and thought this would be a good time to get down to the bottom of it.  Answer: they are different; yams actually have more natural sugar.  Who knew?!

Below is a copy of the recipe from the magazine.

I made a few adjustments to the recipe:

  • Used 1 sweet potato.
  • Skipped the cinnamon.

Finally done!

Verdict: These are delish!

This pic is a little blurry because Chunyo devoured his chip! Any good recipes that you have discovered recently?

And the winner is..

Well after several hours to think about it, looks like Chunyo is back to his normal self.  He came up to us requesting to be held – a sign that he has forgiven us?!  Perhaps!

OR maybe it’s because he needed to get his act together to deliver some good news about the Max and Ruffy’s giveaway

Gus, we’ll be in touch!

Feeling Funky this Friday..

Thank you to everyone who wished Chunyo a Happy Birthday.  Looks like there are quite a few Aries out there 🙂  After a long  and cloudy week, we are looking forward to some sun.  Happy Friday!!

Do I still look handsome upside down? 😉

Paws up to Max and Ruffy’s..

As some of you might recall – we recently realized that Chunyo is allergic to one of his favorite treats: peanut butter. In light of this, we are checking out some different options.  We are happy to share our recent find: blueberry grain-free treats from Max & Ruffy’s.

Max and Ruffy's

Because Chunyo can be a bit picky we wanted to give it a some time before we shared our thoughts with everyone. The verdict: a winner!

See pics for the real deal on the treats.  Our thoughts and considerations are also listed below but Chunyo’s last pic might just seal the deal for you and your pooch 🙂

  • The box is filled with plenty of treats that will last quite a while.
  • They come in different flavors.
  • Max & Ruffy’s website tells you where you can find them online or near you.
  • Only one thing to consider – they might be a little hard for some dogs (e.g., very small or young dogs, older ones, etc.). They seem to be quite crunchy.

That was delish! Another one? Maybe?!?

    Monday Lovin’

Well the weekend flew by (as always).  We even got a light coat of snow.  Crazy!  The sight of snow on Dandelions is just wrong:(.

On another  note, we were able to get a little R & R and a few laughs along the way.  As we were leaving on Friday, I leaned over to give Chunyo a kiss – totally forgetting that I had just put lipstick on. I admit it sometimes I just can’t resist his little face. I couldn’t help but start cracking up on the perfect lipstick print on his forehead.  I ran for the camera immediately! By the time I clicked – he looked annoyed.  But it was still funny to us! 🙂 Enjoy!

HMM!! I'm glad you think this is funny... I don't!

    Funny Friday

    Whatcha lookin' at?!?

    Visit is over…

It’s been a LONG week. Not only because Chunyo was feeling under the weather but as some of you might recall we’ve had a house guest since last week.  Good news! It’s finally time for Casper to go home :). I think the little one is ready to leave and Chunyo is absolutely ready to be in charge again.  He has spent the last 10 days sharing his toys, sharing his walks (only the short ones) and feeling constantly rejected.  The little one just had NO interest in playing.  In fact, I think he spent the week fearing for his life on edge.  He would squeal (hard on the ears) every time Chunyo came near him.  Poor thing!  I feel like I spent the entire time as a  referee (which is exhausting).  Have to admit,  we are looking forward to some one on one with our Chunyo (no offense to Casper) 😉 .

You got the picture, where's our treat?

    Happy Friday!

Busy week!  Going to try to rest our paws this weekend. How about you?

    TGIF!!!

Is your pooch over the hill? No?

Is your pooch considered over the hill?  Hope not! Those of us who have watched our dogs get old know how incredibly heartbreaking it can be.  Horrible, really!

Before Chunyo came along, there were two other little pooches in our family.  There was Nina, a beautiful, sweet-natured Shih Tzu (who loved to sleep next to you or anyone with a warm body) and an anti-social (was very selective of her inner circle) and sometimes neurotic Pomeranian named ‘Rige. Both were quite the ladies and filled the house with lots of joy and laughter! They were my first dogs as an adult (then my boyfriend, now my husband would later join the pack).

Thinking back I remember the signs of aging.  Slowly, they started to get gray hair around their mouths and eyes.  Nina eventually lost her sight and would often forget to go potty outside (pee pads became essential).  Soon after, ‘Rige began to do the same.  Eventually, both girls became senior dogs.

People would often ask how old are they?  Well, like many others I went by the 7 year rule – their age x 7 dogs years.  I too, believed the myth.  Keep in mind I was in my 20’s and more concerned about my social life than arming myself with relevant dog info.  How things change? (Chunyo’s really got a good thing going here!) Little did I know that I had significantly aged the ladies! They passed away at 13 (68 in dog years) and 14 (72 in dog years). I was totally off ! I really thought my girls were well into their 90’s!

Avoid my mistake and learn to calculate your dog’s age with the calculator below (from FETCH a Cure). Chunyo’s 2nd birthday is quickly approaching. He will be 22 in dog years.  While he is maturing, I have to say there is still lots of work to do (still very much a pup).  And thanks to lessons learned with our other dogs, we are better owners today.  Did I mention, what a good thing Chunyo has here, right?! 🙂

You mean it's Monday already?! 😦

We had a great weekend and aren’t looking forward to going back to work – would rather be out playing outside! 🙂 We think Chun would agree!
