As I mentioned in previous posts we decided to devote lots of our time this summer to some house projects. This is why I have been slackin’ on this blog 😦 So far we have gotten lots done (e.g., painted the trim of our house, shed and front door, put new numbers on our house, etc.) BUT there is lots more to do. In fact, we spent some of this weekend refacing our fireplace (phase 1 is completed – we’ll share details in future posts). We also decided it was finally time to put up some of the pictures of Chunyo in the hallway. We ordered some 8×10 photos from Mpix ($1.99 each) and bought some 11×14 frames ($6.99 each) and photo matts ($4.99) from Michaels and TADAAA!! See the final products below..
Have you used your dog’s pics as part of your decor? Anything cool you want to share..

Love this pic - you can see Chunyo's little nose running in this one. CUTE!
This is before we put them up…

Second pic in Sepia..
And here is the final view of the hallway. We decided to put one pic on each wall because the hallway is not very big. Gotta admit – I was pleased when they were up!

Final look of the hallway!

We currently have ONE plant. One lonely, old Bamboo that we picked up in New York City (gotta love Chinatown) years ago. Pathetic, I know but our Bamboo is still going strong!! Unfortunately, I know the time has finally come to have more indoor plants so I went on the hunt for some new house plants. Since Chunyo gets himself in trouble sometimes I wanted to make sure the new plants were non-toxic to dogs. I went to three places – Wal-mart, a local nursery and Home Depot – and only came out with TWO new plants. I really wanted to get a Ponytail Palm but the nursery wouldn’t sell me the one they had – it had bugs (just my luck), then the Yucca plant and the Corn Stalks I was eyeing in the store were both toxic to dogs. So after looking through the long ASPCA list on my phone, I came back home with another Bamboo and a Pleomele. SO the hunt will continue to find some more indoor plants.
Looking for suggestions! What plants do you have in your home?
THREE more days to sign up for the Cesar Canine Cuisine’s giveaway – ends Thursday!
Before I forget (again) – a BIG, BIG and very belated thank you to 2 Brown Dawgs and Just Ramblin’ Pier for our recent awards – Versatile Blogger award and Genuine Blogger award.

Check out our two new plants!

Hmm... What's this? For me?

Not sure why they got me posing next to this blue thing?

Chunyo is one lucky dog!! He recently got really cool gifts in the mail. Cesar Canine Cuisine was generous enough to send us a package in the mail filled with food and treat samples and a super cute, bright colored t-shirt. Unfortunately or fortunately (whichever way you look at it) the t-shirt was not for Chunyo but for ME!! Woohooo!!

The goods..
The package included a t-shirt, 2 bags of Softies Medley treats and 7 meals in the following flavors:
- Grilled Steak & Eggs flavor
- Filet Mignon flavor
- Chicken & Liver
- Beef
- Grilled Chicken
- Chicken & Veal
- Chicken & Cheddar Cheese Souffle
Now on to the good news (drum roll, please)! We received two packages – one for us and one for a lucky reader.
A few details and how to win?
- Giveaway begins Thursday, July 14th and ends Thursday, July 21st.. Winner will be announced on Friday,
July 22nd.
- Winner will be selected using www.random.org

Which is Chunyo’s favorite flavor? Although he was a little suspicious of his bowl at first (first time having wet food) he quickly got over it. We mixed it with his food to avoid an upset tummy. His fav? Paws up to Chicken and Veal.

Hmm.. This is good..
Oh and the treats were a hit too! They come in super cool shapes.

Last week we bought a new zoom lens for our camera. We still have to experiment with it some more but so far, so good. In an effort to perfect our photography skills – we also broke down and bought Photoshop Elements 9 with a recent Best Buy coupon. It took 10% off our purchase – not too much but every bit helps. A little overwhelmed by all the cool features – there is lots to learn so bear with us. We are open to any tips!!
Here is my first Photoshop attempt… They say practice makes perfect – we shall see…

Did a little shopping for our camera today. We finally bought a zoom lens. We love this camera but zooming has always been a problem. We had no choice to shell out a few (ok, more than a few) bucks but I am hoping it will be worth it! Next: buy photoshop software. If anyone has suggestions about this purchase – let us know. May take the leap and use this coupon this weekend.
We are so ready for a long weekend. Taking this long weekend to relax and spend time with friends. Happy Friday! We’ll be back on Tuesday..

TGIF! It's been a long week 😉

For the first time since we started blogging, we had to skip out on yesterday’s post :(. Blame it on technology! But in the end it probably worked out for our little Chun. Looks like he needed a break! Happy Wednesday!

Don't you want to take a break from that camera?

It’s been a crazy week so far but I want to make sure that I share my thoughts on my latest read before the week is out- The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein. I started to read it last week on the train ride back from NYC and really loved it!
The Art of Racing in the Rain is a really a wonderful novel. This book, like a few other books out there is told from the perspective of the family dog (Enzo in this book). Readers who love their pets will be particularly drawn to this book. But even those who aren’t big animal lovers will still appreciate it. It is about family, love, loyalty and faith. The family in this book faces a number of challenges but find the strength to face these obstacles with Enzo by their side. It is a bit sad at times but filled with wonderful life lessons. I have to admit, there are only a few books out there that can make me cry and this one did it. A good cry that is! Paws up to The Art of Racing in the Rain!

Can't read it but can certainly pose with it.

Side note: In case you are wondering about the pic above – yes, those spots came from Chunyo’s slobber – yuck!

We did a little bit of everything this weekend – saw some friends, relaxed (spent Sat night watching movies) and ran a few errands (Chunyo came along for the ride). While we were out and about we picked up another toy for Chunyo – Fleecy Dog Toy (Vermont Style). Of course, it only took a few minutes for him to get rid of the “squeak.” Poor thing he can’t take the sound!
What are you going to do? He still loves the fleecy part..
Unfortunately, he wasn’t in the mood for pics. But thanks to a little bit of patience, we successfully snapped a few!

Check out my new toy!

No more pics please!

Friday we mentioned that we had lots of plans for the weekend without our sweet Chunyo. We took a quick trip to New York City to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We’ve been to NYC a few times but this was our first time going there on the train (my new fav way to travel). I take a train to work every day and I must say, it is the way to go. No long security lines, no traffic AND you get the chance to check out the scenery while you go. Love it! Sad part, no pooches..
We had a nice dinner on Friday (Sushi Samba – serves some great mojitos) and enjoyed some delicious (really!) banana pancakes on Saturday morning at Pershing Square. I tasted these pancakes the last time I was in NYC with some girlfriends and never forgot them. I wasn’t disappointed – they were SO good! We spent the rest of the day walking off our big breakfasts and even spotted a few cute Bostons along the way (made us miss our Chun). After visiting Ground Zero, we ended the afternoon basking in the sun, people watching over some Blue Moons at Battery Park. After a long day, we ended our Saturday night watching (and laughing) John Leguizamo’s one man show, Ghetto Klown (pretty good).

9/11 Memorial under construction

Boston on the brain - our purchase from local vendor
Our trip was pretty smooth up until it was time to come home. We were at the train station ready to go and then realized that our tickets were for Monday not Sunday! Yikes! We flew to the Amtrak office to change our tickets and had to pay big bucks to make it home yesterday! Agh! Talk about an expensive mistake. We had to get back to work otherwise we would have stayed the extra day. Note to self: triple check dates. Have no idea how we missed that one.
So how was Chunyo when we got home? Not pleased. This of course is typical behavior for him when we go away. At least he is consistent. We spent the afternoon taking him on a long walk and playing in the back yard. Think he might still be annoyed. Hopefully, a good night’s sleep will lift his mood. He has spent s couple of hours in the basement – think he needed some “alone” time. 😉

Might take a little while for me to get over this..
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Max and Ruffy giveaway, we will announce the winner tomorrrow morning. Stay tuned…
